BBS 2012 Week 1

We are reading What's it like to be Married to Me?
By Linda Dillow

I'm going to tell you what really stuck out to me...
First we read By Design,Not Default

How true is this??
Women are a bit complicated...more like alot
and men are more simple.

Love this..
"His mouth if full of sweetness
And he is wholly desirable.
This is my beloved and this is my friend."
Song 5:16

My husband is definitely my soul mate,my lover and best friend.
I married Brent because I want to spend the rest of my life with him. I knew he would meets my needs and wants. And he was somebody I could see myself growing old with. Plus we just clicked together and he had amazing eyes too...lol

The next chapter was..
What is Really Important to Me?

I know with everyday life it gets really tough to make your husband a top priority...believe me it happens to me.
This is something I have been trying  to work on really hard.
Keeping your priorities straight in the chaos of everyday life...
1. God
2. My husband
3.Kids

Don't put your husband on the back burner,it can be devastating to a marriage...so true!!!!!

Marriage Matters
There is a holy reverence about the marriage covenant,Your marriage matters to God, so you should believe it too.

Aim for a Goal...
Goal is something I want that I can control.
Desire is something I want that I can't control
Still thinking on this one:)
Going to be a working process.

We were asked to do a Marriage Purpose Statement. Here is mine...
I used my husbands name
B- be focus on our marriage and him
R- respect,it is a command and a ministry that God has given to us.
E- everlasting love
N- near to God and Brent each and everyday<3
T- trust.

I got so much from this chapter and can't wait to read the next one:)

BBS Chapter 7 Link up

Wow this chapter really spoke to me!!!!!

What meant the most to you from this chapter or offered you the greatest challenge or inspired you deeply?
That I should value my hubby and build a strong friendship with him and want to be with him more than any other person.
I consider my hubby my best friend and I think that is awesome!!!!!!!

As you look back over the past few weeks, how is what you're learning about helping, following, and respecting your husband affecting your marriage?
It has open my eyes about alot of things and by doing all these things. It helps my marriage and makes it stronger:)

Read Titus2:3-5.  What message does God have for wives here?
To be self-controlled and pure,to be busy at home,to be kind and to be subject to their husband

1.  Pray for your husband daily
All the verses really help me understand that I need to pray for my husband everyday!!!!!
And what I need to pray for.

2.  Plan for your husband daily
We don't go out very often, due to having 2 kids and have very little babysitter options.
So we usually have "our" time when the kids go to bed. It doesn't matter what we do,just as long I have him beside me. We usually snuggle on the couch and watch a movie or just have a good talk. And that makes me so HAPPY!!!!!
I also do little things for him and make him something special for dinner.

This chapter really makes me realize that my husband is my number one priority after God.I have learned so much and it has been changing me and I love that. It feels so AWESOME. And it helps me to help my husband get close to God.

BBS Chapter 3 Discussion

This chapter has been the greatest one of all!!!!!!

Chapter 3-A Heart Committed to Prayer

What meant the most to you from this chapter or offered you the greatest challenge or inspired you deeply?I think what inspired me was to improve my prayer time and pray for things that are more specific and mean more...I trying to teach my kids to do the same.So its a family thing:)

Read Mark 1:35 for a glimpse of Jesus at prayer.  What can you learn about His prayer life?
When you pray it should be in a quiet place with no distraction. That's why I do mine in the morning when it's just me.

Now, describe in a few words what preceded this quiet moment in verses 21-34.
Jesus was teaching and healing people

Is your head spinning?  Mine is!  But Jesus shows us how to hand the "head spinning" events of busy, hectic, challenging days.  How can you follow His example today?
Pray before everything!!!!!!

Blessing #1:A Deeper Relationship with God--As you consider that prayer increases faith, provides a place to unload burdens, teaches us that God is always near, trains us not to panic, and changes lives, which one of these benefits would be the greatest reason for developing a heart committed to prayer at this stage of your life?  Why?
For me it would be train us not to panic. I worry about everything!!!! Remember last weeks chapter about being frazzled. But I have learned to prayer before I react and make decisions. And I know God will give me peace.

Blessing #2: Greater Purity--I shared with you my problem with gossip in this area of purity.  Now won't you identify your particular problem area and share briefly what you plan to do about it?
I have watch TV shows in the past that weren't something that I probably needed to watch,so I have cut out alot of them. The funny thing about it now, is that I would be embarrassed to tell people I watched them.

Blessing #3:Confidence in Making Decisions--What was the result of His (Jesus) time in prayer in the area of decision making (36-39)?  What difference did prayer make in the direction for His new day?  And what difference might prayer make in the direction for your new days?
Jesus prayed and then went and preached to a nearby village. He wanted to do more.
The one thing I got from this was Make no decision without prayer.

Blessing #4: Improved Relationships--What relationship do you need to improve through prayer, and how can you begin immediately to commit to pray about the relationship?
My hubby and me have been arguing for about a couple of weeks about something that's not really a big deal now,but at first it was to me.I started praying about every night asking God why I got so upset about it and what I should do? Well the issue has been resolve and  no more arguing....Praise the Lord!!!!!!!!

Blessing #5:Contentment--Identifiy an area in your life where you struggle with finding contentment.  Now look at Phillipians 4:10-13.  What can you learn about contentment from these words from the apostle Paul?  How can you apply Paul's lessons to your own situation?
To be more content in my life and place everything in God's hands. And remember this...If He doesn't meet it,you didn't need it.

Blessing #6: God Confidence--How do these scriptures increase your trust in God?
Psalm 34:9...MY FAVORITE!!!!! As long as a put trust in the Lord,I will lack nothing....how awesome it that!!!!!

Blessing #7:The Ministry of Prayer--Edith Schaeffer stated, "Interceding for other people makes a difference in the history of other people's lives."  Who are the people you can minister to through prayer and when do you plan to begin this "ministry"?
My family and friends:) Pray for them.

Read again the suggestions made in the "Yes, But How?" section for cultivating a heart committed to prayer.  After writing down which ones you will put into practice today, read my own story.
1.Make more time with the Lord...something is better than nothing.
2. Have a prayer journal
3. Pray in everything I do

BBS -Chapter 1 Discussion

Photobucket

Chapter 1 was great....I really enjoyed it:)

The Pursuit of God ::
Chapter 1: A Heart Devoted to God

Where did the story take place?
In a small village,Martha's home

What was going on?
Jesus and his disciples were coming to dinner

Who were the people present?
Mary,Martha,Jesus and his disciples

How did Martha act and why?
Martha was overly involved in her hostessing, she got upset when her sister Mary wasn't helping her put the meal together

And how did Mary act?
When Jesus opened his mouth to impart words of life, she quickly sat at his feet and being to worship him

What were Jesus' words to Martha?
Jesus told her she was worried and upset about many things, but one thing is needed....WORSHIP!!!!

And His words to Mary?
Mary had chosen the one thing needed and she had chosen what is better and it will not be taken away from her.

List at least 5 actions you can take to put worship at the top of your to do list
1. Make it my number one priority!!!!
2.Use the Quiet Time Calendar
3.Don't get caught up with watching TV...have some quiet time before I go to bed
4.Don't worry about everything
5.Choose Him in everything I do

Write out what you will do daily...
cease your busyness, stop all activity and set aside secondary things.
Stop and enjoy life and try not to get so caught up in all activities that go on in everyday life, read more of God's word and have my quiet time with him and see where he will take me.

Define the word priority....
Means to prefer

Define the word worship...
intense love or admiration

Can you think of any area in your life where you settled for good when you know that a better and a best choice are available?

I wrote this on my chalkboard I have in my kitchen and I read it everyday
Good,better,best,
never let it rest,
until your good is better,
and your better best.

I need to spend more time with him on a daily basis...and to open my heart and listen to what he is telling me.

A Heartfelt Prayer
Lord, just for today, help me to cultivate a hot heart by asking you to guide me through my life as you want me to live it.

On a separate page, relate in 100 words or less one instance when you were aware that you actively chose God as a priority over something or someone else this week. Then thank God for that opportunity.
I have my quiet time with God in the evening,so I chose to do my daily reading instead of watching TV...which is so much more rewarding. And thank you for guiding me to participate in  this BBS,I know it going to be great and its going to get me closer to my AWESOME GOD:)

I loved Chapter one and it has really pushed me to have my quiet time with God.I'm so glad that I'm a part of this BBS,i know that it's going to get me so much closer to GOD and learn so much.

I highlighted some areas in my book that I wanted to share

Cultivate a hot heart...
Our heart for God should be like a boiling pot. Our heart should be characterized by God-given and intense passion for our Lord.
We should be fiery and excited about God,and God will fuel our fire.

How AWESOME is that.
